Reports To: Initially Chief Operating Officer

Direct Reports: 3-4 Technical Field Operators

Location/Travel: Full-Time | Remote + Field-Oriented (~12 domestic trips/year, 5-10 days each)

Compensation: $80,000-$100,000 + equity package

Position Overview

Safe Pro AI is seeking a Head of Technical Field Ops to lead our drone-enabled landmine detection deployments, streamline operational processes, and manage on-the-ground customer and team training. This role combines field leadership, software-centric execution, team management, and customer-facing demonstrations and process standardization. As Head of Technical Field Ops, you will build scalable operational workflows, author internal and external training curricula, and ensure deployments are reliable, credible, and mission-effective.

Key Responsibilities

Field Operations & Leadership

• Run and demonstrate Safe Pro AI’s landmine detection technology in military training exercises and key customer demonstrations.
• Lead and mentor a team of Technical Field Operators in high-stakes field environments.
• Execute field collection plans, adapting in real time to dynamic mission conditions while balancing speed, image quality, coverage, and processing overhead.
• Troubleshoot hardware, software, and workflow issues under time pressure.
• Manage field logistics such as set-up, break-down, sustainment, and equipment organization.

Training & Documentation

• Training Curriculum: Design comprehensive training curricula for customer operators and internal Technical Field Operators on all Safe Pro AI systems.
• Field Reference Tools: Author concise, mission-ready guides to de-risk complex operations (including quick-reference laminated field cards).
• Technical User Guides: Create detailed user manuals and technical documentation for both internal operators and end-user technical teams.

Process Development & Standardization

• Establish standardized mission packages and pre-deployment equipment checklists to ensure complete operational readiness.
• Build robust operational protocols, including flight logging, field data organization, and hardware maintenance workflows.
• Gather on-the-ground feedback from users and synthesize field data to drive continuous product and UX improvements with engineering.

Key Qualifications & Ideal Background

• Software-First Mindset: Strong technical aptitude with complex software ecosystems, data management, and digital workflows. You prioritize software capability over hardware specs.
• Military / Tactical Experience: Strong preference for former military personnel, particularly Special Forces/SOF backgrounds. Familiarity with US military doctrine, tactical problem-solving, and operating in defense environments is highly valued.
• Technical Field Leadership: Proven track record running technical field deployments, conducting customer-facing demos, or leading operations in high-stakes environments.
• Clear Communication: Ability to bridge the gap between technical engineering teams, internal operators, and senior military leadership.
• Problem Solving: Highly proactive, resourceful, and solution-oriented. Able to identify problems, take ownership, and figure out what needs to be done without direction.
• UAS Familiarity: Hands-on experience operating multirotor and fixed-wing drone platforms (Skydio X10E/D, Parrot ANAFI, Wingtra) or the ability to master them quickly.
