Job summary

OpenKrill seeks a senior Head of Risk to establish and lead a proactive risk function across regulatory, financial and operational domains. You will partner with product and commercial teams to embed risk decisions early and ensure rapid, credible risk guidance to leadership.

The role starts as a one-person department and may scale; requires strong appetite for ownership, fast decision-making and deep fluency in English. Remote-first with European HQ time.

Qualifications

• 8–10+ years in financial services or fintech risk.
• Direct experience in regulated fintech, payment institution, EMI, PSP or crypto business.
• Hands-on experience with at least one: DORA ICT risk, MiCA risk requirements, or PSD2 operational risk.
• Ability to present risk position clearly under pressure and translate into business terms.
• Fluent professional English.

Responsibilities

• Own enterprise risk framework: taxonomy, appetite, tolerances, risk register, escalation policy and three-lines-of-defence.
• Produce regular risk dashboards for CEO, leadership and board; support regulatory reporting.
• Lead DORA ICT risk management, incident classification and third‑party ICT risk governance.
• Oversee licensing risk for new e‑money authorisations and parallel jurisdictions.
• Manage B2B partner risk, onboarding risk scoring and concentration risk.
• Collaborate with Finance on crypto price exposure, settlement and liquidity risk.
• Enhance operational resilience: business continuity, disaster recovery and vendor risk.
• Set risk appetite for fraud and product risk; govern risk across business units.
• Chair risk committee and align risk culture with leadership.
