Job summary

Johnson & Johnson in Spring House, PA seeks a Sr. Manager, Pooled Screening Core - CAR Screening & Lead Selection, to establish and lead a centralized pooled screening core within Cell & Genetic Medicines. You will mentor scientists, build scalable workflows, and drive data-driven decisions across project teams.

You will lead cross-functional relationships, define standards, and ensure high-quality outcomes while accelerating discovery and strengthening partnerships across the portfolio.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in molecular biology, cell biology, immunology, bioengineering, biotechnology, or a related discipline; equivalent education and experience will be considered.
• Deep expertise in pooled screening technologies and ability to design, execute, troubleshoot, and interpret complex screening studies.
• Experience leading scientific or multidisciplinary technical teams, mentoring talent, and fostering a service‑oriented culture.
• Proven ability to establish scalable workflows and operating practices, manage concurrent priorities, and maintain high standards for quality and delivery.
• Strong cross‑functional leadership and relationship-building skills to influence strategy.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, able to explain complex concepts clearly.

Responsibilities

• Serve as CGM's scientific lead for pooled screening technologies, strategy, and limitations.
• Develop and optimize scalable pooled screening workflows from library design to data interpretation.
• Build relationships with project teams and translate questions into rigorous study designs.
• Integrate pooled screening with existing screening, automation, CAR-T generation, and assay development teams.
• Lead Core operating model: intake, prioritization, resource planning, scheduling, execution, and data delivery.
• Maintain high standards for rigor, reproducibility, documentation, and biosafety.
• Monitor Core performance through throughput, quality, turnaround time, and portfolio impact.
• Provide hands-on scientific and operational oversight, balancing priorities.
• Lead and expand the Core team, mentoring scientists and fostering collaboration.
• Represent the Core in portfolio discussions, communicate capacity and risks transparently.
