Job summary

McMaster-Carr is seeking an exceptional Site Reliability Engineer to lead the reliability, performance, and security of our hybrid infrastructure in Chicago. You will own production systems end to end, guiding teams across on‑premise data centers and cloud platforms while maintaining strict uptime and security standards.

You will define architectural direction, design resilient connectivity, harden environments, and drive incident response maturity.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in SRE/Infrastructure/Platform with ownership of production systems.
• Proven ability to manage and grow engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Define long-term architectural direction for scalable platforms.
• Design resilient hybrid service connectivity with secure ingress/egress and zero-trust networking.
• Harden cloud and on-prem environments, including identity boundaries and network segmentation.
• Drive incident response maturity to reduce detection and recovery times.
• Upskill and mentor your team to foster high-quality, reliable delivery.
