Job summary

McMaster-Carr is seeking a Facility Engineering & Maintenance Manager to lead the operations of our largest distribution center and national headquarters in Chicagoland. You will oversee building systems, drive preventive maintenance, and manage multi-year capital plans to ensure uptime and safety.

Qualifications

• 5+ years leading maintenance, facilities, plant engineering, or building-operations teams in large, complex, continuously operating environments.
• Proven people leadership, developing supervisors and technicians, setting expectations, and building bench strength.
• Experience improving preventive maintenance, work-management, or reliability practices using a CMMS or comparable system.

Responsibilities

• Lead the team responsible for the reliable, safe, and efficient operation of building infrastructure across the distribution center and national headquarters.
• Oversee HVAC, electrical distribution, plumbing, life-safety, security, roofing, lighting, data center, and other critical facilities systems; coordinate with automation reliability teams.
• Develop technicians and supervisors, strengthen preventive maintenance, and plan facility improvements to protect uptime and support growth.
• Direct external engineering and contractor partnerships from scope through commissioning and handoff; ensure safe, sound integration into operations.
• Partner with Distribution, Workplace, Security, IT, Engineering, and Automation to manage risk and maintain regulatory compliance.
