Job summary

Charlotte County, Florida is seeking a Director of People Operations to lead a comprehensive HR operation and cultivate a care-centered culture for 1,700+ employees from onboarding to retirement.

The role reports to County leadership and directs talent acquisition, employee relations, compensation, benefits, safety, wellness, and training. It also serves as the management spokesperson in labor negotiations and policy formulation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Ten years of direct People Operations experience, including five years managing programs and operations.
• Five years of union negotiations experience, including serving as spokesperson for management.
• Local government experience required.

Responsibilities

• Direct all phases of people operations — talent acquisition, employee relations, classification and pay, benefits, safety, wellness, and training and development.
• Serve as management’s lead spokesperson in labor negotiations, grievance resolution, arbitration, and mediation.
• Formulate personnel policies and ensure compliance with employment law.
• Strengthen the Business Partner service model across departments and act as strategic partners.
• Build trusted relationships with the Board and 1,700+ employee workforce.
