USSE is seeking a founding Head of People to lead all human resources functions in a security-first, equity-centric environment. The role covers recruiting, onboarding, payroll, benefits, and offboarding within a startup with token grants governed as securities.

The position is based in Hutchinson, Kansas, with an initial hybrid work arrangement and relocation to the office as onboarding and sensitive conversations require face-to-face interaction.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in human resources, including senior roles.
• Knowledge of U.S. employment law and multi-state rules.
• Experience running hiring, onboarding, pay, benefits, and departures at a startup.
• Equity compensation knowledge: grant administration, vesting, 409A valuations.

Responsabilités

• Own recruiting and candidate experience from posting to signed offers.
• Oversee onboarding: eligibility to work, agreements, policy acknowledgements.
• Manage offboarding, ensuring timely revocation of access and data hygiene.
• Oversee compensation, payroll records, and benefits; start all equity and token grants.
• Develop and maintain handbook and company policies; ensure compliance.
