Job summary

AbbVie seeks a visionary Head of Molecular Discovery Technologies to define strategic direction across DEL, NMR, MS-based screening, and data-driven discovery platforms. This role partners with Molecule Therapeutics and Platform Technologies to shape lead-discovery strategies and portfolio impact.

The leader translates emerging technologies into scalable capabilities, develops talent, and maintains scientific visibility while driving collaboration across functions and external partnerships.

Qualifications

• PhD in chemistry, medicinal chemistry, biochemistry or related field.
• 10+ years in lead discovery or molecular discovery technologies.
• Strong background in medicinal chemistry and lead-discovery strategy.
• Experience leading scientific functions or platform teams in a matrixed environment.
• Proven external scientific impact through publications, patents, or talks.
• Experience applying AI/ML or analytics to discovery data preferred.
• Excellent leadership and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Define and execute the MDT strategy to maximize portfolio impact.
• Lead MDT portfolio prioritization and resource allocation.
• Drive integrated data strategies using AI/ML-enabled approaches.
• Partner with cross-functional leaders to shape future discovery approaches.
• Develop long-range MDT technology, talent, and infrastructure plans.
• Establish metrics for platform performance and portfolio contribution.
