Job summary

Upstart seeks a Sr. Engineering Manager - ML Data Enablement to lead a platform team responsible for data lifecycle from source to inference, accelerating data evaluation velocity and time-to-production for high-value sources.

You will partner with ML, ML Platform, Procurement, Data Platform, and product engineering to turn data into a durable competitive advantage, driving ownership and data quality across contracts and SLAs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Mathematics with 8+ years of engineering experience and 3+ years of people management.
• Owned production data pipelines enabling offline training and online inference.
• Experience building and scaling data systems in modern stacks (Databricks/Spark, Python, SQL, AWS) and distributed architectures.
• Proven ability to lead cross-functional programs across engineering, ML, and business stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead data integration, quality, metadata, and ML-critical data infrastructure teams for online inference and offline training.
• Set technical strategy with measurable north star metrics to increase data velocity and reduce time to production.
• Develop robust data quality, reconciliation, and monitoring frameworks and establish data contracts and SLAs across datasets.
