Job summary

The Weather Channel is seeking a Director of Meteorology to set the meteorological direction for our 24/7 news and intelligence platform. You will translate complex atmospheric science into compelling, accurate storytelling for a national audience and guide field operations, breaking news decisions, and enterprise partnerships.

You will lead and mentor a team of meteorologists, collaborate with editorial and technology teams, and ensure the highest standards of scientific integrity across all

Qualifications

Advanced degree in meteorology or related physical science.
10+ years professional meteorology experience with public-facing forecasts.
Proven leadership of cross-functional teams under pressure.

Responsibilities

Lead scientific direction and quality assurance for forecasts across platforms.
Review and approve scripts, graphics, and published content for accuracy.
Deliver meteorology briefs to editorial meetings and influence daily story selection.
Coordinate with senior leadership and external partners on enterprise weather strategy.
Serve as ambassador to agencies, institutions, and industry groups.
Mentor technical staff and drive forecasting excellence in a 24/7 environment.
