Job summary

Clean Harbors is seeking a Director of Operations for Medical Waste to oversee daily facility operations, regulatory compliance, and strategic planning. You will manage budgets, forecast finances, and lead a team across multiple locations while driving safety, efficiency and growth.

The role requires a strong background in healthcare or hazardous waste operations, plus a proven ability to lead, mentor, and optimize performance. Travel up to 50% is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field.
• 7+ years of facilities management experience with leadership responsibilities.
• Experience in healthcare or hazardous waste operations preferred.
• Proven track record in budgeting, project management, and regulatory compliance.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to travel to multiple facility locations up to 50%.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all aspects of medical waste facility operations including collection, transportation, storage and disposal.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations (EPA, OSHA, DOT, CLIA, etc.).
• Lead incident investigations and coordinate with corporate compliance for resources.
• Guide facility operations to ensure capital project completion and preventive maintenance schedules.
• Develop long-range facility plans and manage budgets, forecasts, and financial reports.
• Mentor Plant General Managers and support strategic business decisions.
• Manage aging inventories and ensure accurate monthly financial statements.
