Job summary

Axios Live seeks an extraordinary Head of Live Editorial to lead editorial strategy for all Axios Live programs. You will guide onstage interviews, recap coverage, and post-event storytelling while upholding Axios’ Smart Brevity style.

You will manage a diverse team, collaborate with Booking, Coverage, Sales, and Partnerships, and steer editorial quality in fast-moving, high-stakes environments. Willingness to travel and strong newsroom relationships preferred.

Qualifications

• 12–15+ years in journalism or editorial leadership with large teams.
• Extensive experience in live news, events, TV or video production.
• Strong cross-functional relationships with newsroom, sales and partnerships.
• Excellent writing, copy editing, and research with sharp news judgment.
• Deep familiarity with digital and social media, and Axios’ Smart Brevity style.

Responsibilities

• Set the editorial vision and strategy for Axios Live programming across event formats.
• Lead the Axios Live editorial team, including editors and bookers, and manage performance.
• Ensure all materials meet Axios’ standards and Smart Brevity style.
• Oversee coordination between Booking and Coverage and the broader newsroom.
• Partner with Communications to promote events and grow brand reach.
• Lead copy editing and final editorial review of event scripts and materials.
