Job summary

Axios is seeking a Director of Editorial Booking for Axios Live to lead editorial booking for our high-profile events. You will report to the Managing Editor of Axios Live and guide a team to book top-tier newsmakers with editorial independence and Smart Brevity standards.

You will shape booking strategy for annual summits, collaborate with newsroom leadership, and manage on-site execution across global tentpoles while building durable relationships with influencers and executives.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of editorial booking or media experience
• Experience leading or mentoring other bookers or producers
• Proven track record owning booking strategy for large-scale editorial events
• Experience booking high-profile leaders (CEOs, officials, influencers)
• Strong written and verbal communication with editorial guidance ability
• Deep knowledge of the news cycle and trends across politics, business, technology
• Experience building full show programs from concept to execution
• Strong organizational and people-management skills
• Familiarity with Axios Smart Brevity style and editorial values
• Bonus: networks in health care, energy/climate, defense, media/tech, Capitol Hill

Responsibilities

• Lead, manage, and mentor the associate director across Axios Live programming
• Collaborate on editorial booking strategy for annual summits and franchise events
• Build trusted relationships with external newsmakers and Axios newsroom talent
• Book for Axios House and other Axios Live products at global tentpoles
• Secure senior newsmakers while guiding bookings across the team
• Liaise between Axios Live, the newsroom, and Axios leadership
• Exercise strong editorial judgment in fast-moving news environments
• Ensure Axios Live programming meets editorial standards and diversity
• Oversee live-event prep: interview prep, run-of-show, scripts, cues
• Guide collaboration on event language and marketing materials
• Support senior newsroom leadership during live events
• Build long-term relationships with principals and influencers
• Travel to Axios Live events domestically and internationally
• Leverage AI Tools to improve research, booking, and production workflows
