Job summary

Amazon SageMaker Studio IDE team is seeking a Software Development Manager to lead engineers delivering JupyterLab, a Code Editor, and local IDE integrations at scale. You will own end-to-end development and delivery of IDE experiences serving millions of data scientists and developers worldwide.

You will guide design, architecture, testing, and deployment, partner with PM/UX, grow your team, and ensure operational excellence through agile processes and on-call responsibilities.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience.
• 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience.
• Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle.
• Experience partnering with product or program management teams.
• First-hand ML experience is not required, but interest and passion is.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and grow a team of software development engineers building highly scalable, cloud-based IDE infrastructure and experiences.
• Own the technical roadmap and strategy for one or more IDE product areas, balancing innovation with operational excellence.
• Drive the design, development, testing, and deployment of distributed services that power ML development environments at AWS scale.
• Partner with product management, UX, and peer engineering teams to define product features, system architecture, and best practices.
• Work with external customers, scientists, and other teams to investigate design approaches and prototypes.
• Operate in an Agile/Scrum environment, establishing team processes for quality software with predictable cadence.
• Hire, develop, and retain top engineering talent; foster an inclusive team culture.
• Ensure operational excellence across your team's services, including on-call and security standards.
