Job summary

Amazon Development Center U.S., Inc. in Santa Clara is seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer for SageMaker AI Studio. You will own design and delivery of large-scale distributed systems powering the ML development experience.

You will lead technical direction, mentor engineers, and raise the bar for reliability, performance, and operational excellence. Join a team at the intersection of cloud, tooling, and AI/ML.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional software development experience.
• 5+ years designing and building large-scale distributed systems.
• Proficiency in Java, Python, TypeScript, or Go.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent).
• Experience building developer tools, IDEs, or ML/AI platforms.
• Deep understanding of cloud-native architectures (containers, server-less, micro-services).
• Track record of delivering ambiguous, high-impact projects with minimal guidance.
• Experience mentoring senior engineers and influencing technical direction across an organization.
• Familiarity with ML workflows (training, inference, model management).
• Master's or PhD in Computer Science or related field.

Responsibilities

• Lead the architecture, design, and implementation of complex software systems.
• Own end-to-end delivery of large-scale distributed services with high availability and low latency.
• Collaborate with product, science, and partner engineering teams to define roadmaps.
• Mentor engineers across levels, conduct design and code reviews, raise the bar.
• Champion CI/CD, observability, testing, and incident management.
• Identify opportunities to simplify and automate the developer experience.
• Translate customer workflows into scalable platform capabilities.
