Job summary

City of Chicago is seeking an Assistant Director in the Office of Public Safety Administration to lead a major division, supervise staff, and oversee program operations. The role reports to OPSA leadership and focuses on implementing city-wide infrastructure and services while ensuring policy compliance.

Starting salary range is $125,316–$141,660 with duties including budget and grant management, HR, labor relations, and administrative processes.

Qualifications

• Nine (9) years of experience related to the responsibilities of the position, with at least two (2) years in a supervisory or supervisory-equivalent role.
• Graduation with an Associate's degree in a related field plus seven years of related experience, with at least two years supervisory.
• Graduation with a Bachelor's degree in a related field plus five years of related experience, with at least two years supervisory.
• Graduation with a Master's degree or higher in a related field plus four years of related experience, with at least two years supervisory.

Responsibilities

• Lead and direct staff within an operational division.
• Manage daily operations and performance evaluations.
• Develop strategic plans and implement staffing/operating changes.
• Provide guidance on payroll, labor laws, and HR matters.
• Prepare reports and briefings for departmental leadership.
