Job summary

Sunbelt in Tallahassee seeks a Chief Maintenance Engineer to lead the hotel engineering team, overseeing preventive maintenance across guest rooms, public areas, and mechanical systems. You will manage staff, respond to maintenance requests, and coordinate vendor work to ensure safety and reliability.

A High School Diploma or GED with HVAC, electrical, or mechanical training is required, plus 1–3+ years in facilities maintenance, with supervisory experience a plus.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED; HVAC, electrical, or mechanical trades preferred.
• Experience: 1–3+ years in facilities maintenance or hotel engineering; supervisory experience a plus.
• Certifications/Licenses: Valid driver’s license; pool operations, CPR, EPA Universal, or boiler operation preferred.
• Physical: Stand, walk, kneel, crawl, bend, climb stairs; lift/push 50–100 lbs regularly.

Responsibilities

• Develop, schedule, and execute a property-wide preventive maintenance program.
• Perform hands-on repairs including carpentry, plumbing, and basic electrical work.
• Monitor HVAC systems, PTAC units, and related equipment for upkeep.
• Inspect life-safety systems, alarms, and ensure OSHA compliance.
• Coordinate external vendors for major projects and specialized repairs.
• Respond to after-hours maintenance requests and maintain a safe workshop.
• Track assets, work orders, and PMs using asset management software.
• Monitor inventory and assist with cost control and budgeting.
