Lilly is recruiting an accomplished computational genomics scientist to lead the Genomics Data Science & AI/ML team in RNA Therapeutics. The Director will guide pipeline-facing analyses, mentor PhD-level scientists, and shape methods development while partnering with wet lab and project teams to drive portfolio impact.

The ideal candidate has a strong track record applying bioinformatics and ML to large-scale genomics data, and keeps ahead of emerging AI/ML approaches for genomics.

Competenze

• PhD in bioinformatics, computational biology, statistics, data science, machine learning, biophysics or a related scientific field.
• Minimum 4 years of relevant industry or academic leadership experience.
• Experience leading teams of scientists including methods development.
• Strong background in machine learning and deep learning for genomics.
• Deep knowledge of statistics, genetics, genomics, integrative analysis, and modeling.
• Experience with multiple genomics modalities and production analysis setups.

• Oversee deployment of computational resources to enable drug discovery genomics.
• Lead, mentor, and grow a team of PhD-level data scientists.
• Help set the team’s computational genomics and AI/ML strategy.
• Build on the team’s AI/ML work and advise on method selection and model design.
• Translate novel computational methods into robust, scalable tools for portfolio decisions.
• Champion adoption of new analytical approaches across RNA Therapeutics.
• Foster an environment where team members contribute ideas and are recognized.
• Navigate scientific questions and decide when to act.
• Partner with scientific leaders to design genomics datasets for training and benchmarking.
• Deliver rigorous, decision-grade analyses across modalities (3'-RNA-seq, mRNA-seq, MPRA, scRNA-seq, spatial transcriptomics, CLIP-seq, Perturb-seq).
• Establish standards for reproducibility and QC across cloud-based workflows.
• Drive process optimization to improve speed and success probability.
