Job summary

MSD is seeking a Director of Data Science in Cambridge, MA to lead the Translational Genome Analytics team within DAGS. You will own computational frameworks for CRISPR screens and multi-evidence integration to prioritize targets and drug combos.

You'll guide a team of scientists, apply cutting-edge AI/ML, and set strategic direction for functional genomics analytics across discovery programs.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Computational Biology, Statistics, CS, math or related field.
• 10+ years in computational biology or related quantitative discipline.
• Experience leading analytics teams and setting strategy.
• Proven ML experience with single-cell RNA sequencing data.
• Experience with experimental design and multi-omics integration.
• Proficiency in R or Python and Git.
• Familiarity with publicly available data repositories (TCGA, DepMap, CCLE, CPTAC).
• Experience with AWS and Linux environments.
• Excellent oral and written communication.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and build of scalable computational analytics for pooled, arrayed, single-cell, and optical CRISPR screens.
• Invent scalable methods for single-cell perturbation screening, barcoding, and lineage tracing.
• Build image analysis pipelines turning morphologies into biological insight.
• Integrate genomics and imaging with transcriptomics and proteomics for target prioritization.
• Apply AI/ML, including LLM-driven workflows, to triage targets and synthesize evidence.
• Lead and grow a team, set strategic direction, ensure reproducible research and FAIR data.
