Turo is seeking a Senior Director of Fraud Prevention to own the strategy and execution for identity verification, fraud tooling, and pre-trip investigations in a high-growth marketplace. You will architect systems, playbooks, and detection models while partnering with Product, Engineering, Legal, and Finance to reduce fraud and balance user experience.

You will lead multi-tier teams, manage vendor relationships, and drive data-driven decisions.

Qualifications

• 12 to 15+ years of experience in fraud prevention, identity risk, Trust & Safety, or related fields.
• 10+ years of people management experience, including managers and vendor environments.
• Deep expertise in identity verification, account fraud, document fraud, synthetic identity, and pre-transaction risk decisioning.
• Strong knowledge of fraud tooling vendors and trade-offs between internal vs third party solutions.

Responsabilités

• Own end-to-end strategy for user verification, including identity document verification, liveness, synthetic identity detection, and account monitoring.
• Lead evaluation and optimization of third-party verification tooling (Socure, Ekata, Persona or equivalent).
• Develop decisioning frameworks balancing fraud prevention with conversion and user experience.
• Lead pre-trip fraud review, identify high-risk bookings, and make go/no-go decisions.
• Define investigation workflows, risk scoring, and escalation protocols for rapid, scalable decisions.
• Build feedback loops between investigations and automated detection models.
• Build, develop and hold accountable a multi-tier team across verification and investigations.
• Oversee in-house and vendor operations with P&L and performance management.
• Implement QA, coaching, and productivity standards for consistency.
• Partner with Product and Engineering to build platform controls and risk-based tooling.
• Align with Legal, Finance, and International teams on enforcement and policy.
• Translate insights into product requirements and roadmap priorities.
• Represent Turo with industry associations and government bodies on fraud patterns.
• Synthesize risk signals into clear narratives for senior leadership.
• Define KPIs for verification, fraud prevention, and investigations.
