Job summary

Confidential seeks a Head of Finance & Accounting to lead and transform the German finance function. You will guide ~15 professionals, own the closing processes, and ensure compliant reporting under HGB and IFRS in a dynamic environment.

You will drive finance transformation, including process automation and organisational change, while partnering with senior leaders and cross-functional stakeholders. A WP and/or CPA with strong analytics and stakeholder skills is highly desirable.

Qualifications

Job description

The client is seeking a Head of Finance & Accounting to lead and transform the accounting and finance function in Germany. This high-impact role combines technical accounting expertise with transformation leadership and hands-on, solution-oriented people management. Working closely with the CFO, you will strengthen processes, develop talent, and build a high-performing finance function in a dynamic, evolving environment.

You will lead and develop a finance and accounting organisation of approximately 15 professionals, and take ownership of the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes to ensure high-quality reporting and sound financial governance. Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with HGB and IFRS requirements and overseeing statutory financial statements, managing external audits, and maintaining a robust internal control framework. You will also drive finance transformation initiatives such as process optimisation, automation, and organisational change, partnering with senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders across Finance, Treasury, Regulatory Reporting, Tax, Compliance, and Group Finance.

The successful applicant will be a Qualified Wirtschaftspruefer (WP) and/or CPA, which is highly desirable, and will bring strong expertise in HGB and IFRS accounting. You should have proven experience leading accounting, financial reporting, audit, or finance functions within complex and regulated environments, including managing external audits and statutory reporting. Demonstrated success leading teams through transformation or organisational change is expected, along with strong analytical and reporting skills (including advanced Excel capabilities), pragmatic execution-focused leadership, and excellent stakeholder management and communication across organisational levels.
