Job summary

Trade Republic Bank GmbH is seeking a senior accounting lead based in Berlin to own the month-end close and core accounting processes under HGB and IFRS. You will collaborate with Product, Engineering and Regulatory teams to ensure accurate reporting for high-volume financial data and new product launches.

We value deep knowledge of accounting standards (HGB/IFRS), SAP S/4HANA expertise, and a proactive, control-focused mindset. Fluent English is required; relocation support is provided.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of hands-on operational accounting experience (GL, AP/AR, reconciliations, month-end close).
• Experience in a bank, broker, neobank, payments company or fintech with high-volume data.
• A track record of bringing products or processes into accounting books (setup, controls).
• Strong knowledge of HGB and IFRS; RechKredV is a plus.
• ERP experience (SAP S/4HANA) and strong Excel; SQL/BI a plus.
• Accounting qualifications (ACCA/CPA) preferred; fluent English; German a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own the month-end and year-end close under HGB and IFRS.
• Own core processes: GL, AP/AR, reconciliations, accruals.
• Drive accounting for new products and launches with cross-functional teams.
• Analyse balance sheet and P&L and investigate variances.
• Strengthen controls and automate manual work with data/engineering teams.
• Serve as main contact for external auditors and FP&A/Regulatory teams.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

• Own the month-end and year-end close for your area: deliver accurate, timely financials under HGB and IFRS and run a reliable daily accounting operation
• Own core operational processes end to end: General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, accruals and balance sheet reconciliations, including high-volume bank, clearing and customer-related accounts
• Drive the accounting side of new product and market launches. Work with Product, Engineering, Tax and Regulatory Reporting to define the accounting treatment, GL and chart-of-accounts mapping, posting logic and controls before go-live
• Analyse the balance sheet and P&L, investigate variances and post or propose adjustments
• Strengthen the control environment (4-eye principle, documentation, reconciliation standards) and automate manual work with our data and engineering teams
• Act as main contact for external auditors on your areas, and for other Finance teams such as FP&A, Tax, Controlling and Regulatory Reporting

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

• 8+ years of hands-on operational accounting experience (GL, AP/AR, reconciliations, month-end close), ideally partly in Big 4 audit.
• Experience in a bank, broker, neobank, payments company or fast-growing fintech. Experience with high-volume transactional data is a strong advantage
• A track record of bringing new products, entities or processes into the accounting books (accounting assessment, system setup, controls)
• Solid knowledge of HGB and IFRS. Knowledge of RechKredV (German accounting rules for banks) is a plus
• Strong ERP experience. SAP S/4HANA is a big advantage. Comfortable with large datasets in Excel; SQL or BI tools are a plus
• Accounting qualification (e.g. ACCA, CPA, Bilanzbuchhalter, StB/WP) preferred
• Fluent English. German is a plus
• Hands-on, structured and detail-oriented. You question manual processes and keep your team supported and focused
