Job summary

Everestsearchpartners client in San Francisco seeks a Director of Finance to own the company’s financial performance across all operating branches.

You will design reporting, controls, and forecasting, direct the full accounting function, and sit with executives to drive financial outcomes.

Ideal candidates bring 5+ years in senior finance with P&L ownership, plus a track record building financial systems and leading teams in a multi‑site environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in a senior finance or controllership role with direct P&L ownership and team management.
• Demonstrated ability to build financial systems, reporting tools, and internal controls.
• Advanced financial modeling, expert Excel, GAAP knowledge, multi-site or multi-entity close.
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field (or equivalent).
• Must have CA driver’s license and travel to local branches as needed.

Responsibilities

• Own company-wide financial strategy, budgeting, and forecasting, with branch-level reporting.
• Establish and maintain financial controls, workflows, and cost-tracking systems.
• Oversee accounting: AP/AR, payroll, reconciliations, month-end close, and direct team management.
• Manage cash flow, banking relationships, and vendor/contract reviews.
• Lead Revenue Cycle Management and Medicare/Medi-Cal cost reporting coordination.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and timely performance reporting to ownership.

Our client is a well-established, high-growth home health and hospice provider that has served the San Francisco Bay Area for over two decades. Operating across multiple branches, they deliver patient-centered clinical care and are backed by strong operational systems and consistent community trust.

We are hiring a Director of Finance to own the company's overall financial performance across all operating branches. This is a build-and-own role. You'll design the reporting, controls, and forecasting the business runs on, direct the full accounting function, and sit directly where executive decisions get made — owning financial outcomes rather than just reporting on them.

What You'll Own

• Financial Strategy & P&L: Company-wide planning, budgeting, and forecasting, plus branch-level P&L and margin reporting.
• Controls & Workflows: Financial controls, approval workflows, and cost-tracking systems, ensuring appropriate segregation of duties.
• Accounting Function: The entire accounting engine - AP/AR, payroll processing, reconciliations, and month-end close - including direct management of the team.
• Cash & Treasury: Cash flow optimization, banking and lender relationships, and vendor, insurance, and contract reviews.
• Revenue Cycle Management (RCM): Revenue cycle performance alongside billing and clinical leadership: tracking A/R days, denials, collections, and Medicare cost reporting.
• Compliance & Reporting: Compliance of financial practices with Medicare, Medi-Cal, and state regulatory requirements, delivering regular performance reporting and forecasts to ownership.

What You'll Need

• Experience: 5+ years in a senior finance or controllership role with direct P&L ownership and team management.
• Systems Building: Demonstrated track record of building financial systems, reporting tools, and internal controls —not just operating existing ones.
• Technical Skills: Advanced financial modeling, expert Excel skills, and working knowledge of GAAP and multi-site or multi-entity close.
• Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Mobility: Valid California driver's license and reliable transportation to travel between local branches as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in healthcare, home health, hospice, or other regulated service environments.
• Familiarity with healthcare billing, reimbursement models, audit processes, or Medicare cost reports.
• Active CPA or MBA.
