Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Head of Film Distribution & Acquisitions who has an established network of distributors, studios, streamers, exhibitors, sales agents, and international buyers and can actively secure distribution and acquisition opportunities for independent feature films.

The primary responsibility is to take completed or fully packaged films to the appropriate buyers and secure distribution agreements, acquisitions, MGs, licensing deals, theatrical releases, and international sales.

Key Responsibilities

• Secure domestic and international distribution for independent feature films.
• Present and pitch films directly to distributors, studios, streamers, television networks, exhibitors, and sales agents.
• Identify the appropriate buyer for each film based on genre, budget, cast, marketability, and distribution strategy.
• Negotiate distribution agreements, acquisitions, licensing arrangements, MGs, and revenue-sharing structures.
• Build relationships with theatrical exhibitors and secure theatrical distribution opportunities.
• Pursue domestic and international territory sales.
• Take films to film markets and industry events such as Cannes, AFM, TIFF, Berlin, Sundance, and other relevant markets.
• Create and manage a pipeline of potential buyers and distribution partners.
• Coordinate with producers and filmmakers to prepare decks, screeners, sales materials, cast packages, and other materials required by buyers.
• Track offers and negotiations from initial submission through signed agreement.
• Develop strategies to maximize the commercial value of each film.
• Maintain active relationships with distributors, acquisition executives, sales companies, and buyers.

• Demonstrated experience actually securing film distribution or acquisitions, not simply evaluating films.
• Established relationships with distributors, studios, streamers, exhibitors, sales agents, and international buyers.
• Proven ability to get films in front of decision-makers.
• Strong understanding of theatrical, TVOD, SVOD, AVOD, FAST, television, and international distribution.
• Existing industry relationships that can generate meaningful opportunities.
• Strong communication, pitching, negotiation, and deal-closing skills.
• Experience working with independent films is strongly preferred.
• The candidate should be able to demonstrate a track record of getting independent films distributed, acquired, licensed, or sold, with established buyer relationships.
