Job summary

Colonial Williamsburg Foundation in Williamsburg, VA is seeking an experienced Stable Manager to oversee daily horse care, health monitoring, and breeding coordination for a 25–35 horse herd and carriage operations.

You will lead a team of 15–20 staff and volunteers, ensure safety, implement training programs, and collaborate with operations to deliver engaging guest experiences while upholding high animal welfare standards.

Qualifications

• Must have hands-on experience with horses in stable, farm, or equine facility setting.
• Experience leading and managing a team of 15–20 staff.
• Strong knowledge of equine care, nutrition, training, and health monitoring.
• Proven ability to train and develop horses and staff in safe practices.

Responsibilities

• Develop and oversee daily horse care protocols for a herd of 25–35.
• Oversee grooming, tack, and harnessing for carriage operations.
• Coordinate veterinary and farrier services and health records.
• Lead barn operations including stalls, paddocks, and inventory.
• Develop training programs for working horses and staff.
• Engage guests through equine programming and demonstrations.
