Atomic Machines is pioneering a new era in micromanufacturing with its Matter Compiler (MC) technology. The MC enables the design and fabrication of new classes of micromachines, offering unique manufacturing processes and a materials library inaccessible to traditional semiconductor methods. This technology promises to unlock MEMS manufacturing for previously impossible device classes and to open entirely new possibilities. The MC is a fully digital, multi-process, multi-material technology that transforms raw materials into functional micromachines.

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Corporate Head of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) to join our management team. You will ensure our operations meet the highest standards of safety, compliance, and environmental responsibility. Your leadership will maintain a safe, compliant, and resilient environment at our facilities, empowering engineering teams to innovate responsibly.

This role offers an opportunity to shape how safety, sustainability, and operational excellence intersect at the forefront of advanced manufacturing. You will develop, implement, and oversee company-wide EHS programs.

What You'll Do:
  1. Leadership & Strategy
  2. Develop and execute a comprehensive EHS strategy aligned with business objectives.
  3. Advise senior leadership on EHS matters.
  4. Foster a culture of safety and environmental stewardship.
  5. Hire and manage EHS teams at each location.
  6. Approve safety design on all equipment used at AM sites.
  7. Regulatory Compliance
  8. Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local EHS regulations, including OSHA, EPA, CDRH, and relevant international standards.
  9. Oversee audits, inspections, and incident investigations, ensuring timely corrective actions and reporting.
  10. Stay updated on EHS legislation and industry trends.
  11. Program Development & Implementation
  12. Design and implement safety programs for handling hazardous materials, lasers, robotics, and electrical energy.
  13. Develop emergency response plans, training, and safety protocols tailored to each location.
  14. Implement environmental initiatives like waste management and emissions reduction.
  15. Risk Management & Continuous Improvement
  16. Conduct risk assessments and hazard analyses.
  17. Define procedures for onboarding new processes and equipment safely.
  18. Monitor safety metrics, analyze trends, and drive improvements.
  19. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate EHS into product and process design.
  20. Team Management & Training
  21. Lead and mentor EHS teams and professionals.
  22. Oversee company-wide safety training programs.
  23. Stakeholder Engagement
  24. Act as the primary liaison with regulatory bodies, auditors, customers, and community stakeholders.
  25. Communicate EHS performance and initiatives internally and externally.
What You'll Need:
  1. Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Engineering, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  2. 10+ years of progressive EHS experience, including 5+ years in leadership roles overseeing multiple sites.
  3. Expertise in managing EHS in industries involving chemicals, lasers, robotics, electrical energy, or similar.
  4. Experience with safety-focused design and construction of capital equipment.
  5. Strong knowledge of regulatory frameworks (OSHA, EPA, ANSI, NFPA).
  6. Proven success in developing and implementing EHS strategies across multiple locations.
  7. Certifications such as CSP, CIH, or CHMM are highly desirable.
