Job summary

Willow Innovations, Inc. seeks a Senior Director of Engineering to lead and scale our multi-disciplinary engineering organization spanning EE, Embedded Firmware, Cloud Infrastructure, and Mobile/Software Applications. You will bridge hardware and cloud/mobile ecosystems, balancing strategic leadership with hands‑on execution.

You’ll manage hybrid delivery with in‑house leads and external partners (design houses, CM/ODM), delivering high‑reliability health tech products.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
• 12+ years of progressive engineering experience in connected hardware, IoT, or medical devices.
• 5+ years in engineering leadership (Director level or above).
• Multi-Domain Mastery across EE, Firmware, Software & Cloud, and Vendor Management.
• Hands-On capability: read schematics, review architecture, and guide decisions.

Responsibilities

• Act as the chief technical authority across Willow’s end‑to‑end stack: EE, Firmware, Software, and Cloud.
• Drive system‑level architecture, lead design reviews, and troubleshoot bottlenecks.
• Define and enforce technical standards, code quality metrics, hardware test procedures, and secure SDLC.
• Manage, recruit, and mentor a multi‑disciplinary engineering team across EE, firmware, cloud, and mobile.
• Build a culture of accountability, innovation, technical rigor, and cross‑functional collaboration.
• Establish career paths, performance management, and continuous learning for engineering staff.
• Direct and manage external development partners, offshore software agencies, and hardware partners; negotiate SOWs and budgets.
• Establish handoff protocols between external partners and internal teams.
• Collaborate with Product, QA, Regulatory, and Operations to translate requirements into roadmaps and timelines.
• Ensure compliance with FDA medical device software controls, ISO 13485, IEC 60601, HIPAA, and data privacy standards.
