Job summary

Brookhaven National Laboratory's Electron-Ion Collider Development Section seeks a Section Head to lead scientific, technical, and administrative activities for the EIC project. The role provides line management for the Collider and Electron Injectors, guiding research, engineering, and operations.

You will shape priorities, staffing, and resources, collaborate with Project leadership and national/international partners, and promote a safe, high-performing work environment.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Accelerator Physics, Physics, Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
• Demonstrated leadership/management experience (≥6 years) within accelerator science or engineering.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Establish strategic vision and priorities for the EIC Development Section and align with Laboratory objectives.
• Provide direct line supervision of group leaders and staffing/resource planning.
• Oversee design, commissioning, operation, and upgrades of accelerator components for the EIC.
• Represent the Section in technical reviews, collaborations, and external engagements.
• Ensure safety, quality, and operational excellence across activities.
