Job summary

WGN-TV is seeking an experienced Digital Media Director to lead the digital content operation and multiplatform strategy within the newsroom leadership team. You will drive audience growth, guide streaming/CTV initiatives, and align editorial plans across broadcast, digital, and social platforms.

The ideal candidate has at least five years of leadership in digital news, strong analytics, and a proven ability to develop talent while delivering measurable results in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, digital media, or related field or equivalent experience.
• Minimum five years of leadership in digital news, audience development, streaming, social media or multiplatform ops.
• Proven success driving audience growth and managing high-performing teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead digital, social, streaming, and CTV content strategy as part of newsroom leadership.
• Partner with newsroom leaders to drive multiplatform content planning and coverage.
• Direct digital coverage during breaking news, severe weather, and major events.
• Drive growth in digital audiences, social engagement, streaming, SEO, and KPIs.
• Lead WGN+ and streaming initiatives, identifying opportunities for live/original content.
• Supervise digital staff with coaching, performance reviews, and development.
• Set clear goals, expectations, and KPIs for newsroom staff.
• Provide feedback and development opportunities to staff.
• Foster collaboration across broadcast, digital, social, and streaming platforms.
