Job summary

IPTS - Interplanetary Talent Services is searching for a Head of Deployment to build and scale the deployment function for a distributed energy infrastructure platform. You will stand it up from scratch, establish permitting and utility relationships, and lead the deployment team across multiple sites.

The role emphasizes on-site leadership, cross-geography subcontractor management, and end-to-end lifecycle SOPs, including permitting, scheduling, commissioning, and post-COD O&M.

Head of Deployment | Distributed Energy Infrastructure

IPTS is partnering with a venture-backed company in distributed energy infrastructure to hire their Head of Deployment.

This is a build, not a maintenance seat. You will stand up the deployment function from scratch and scale it across a growing network of commercial sites. Small, flat team. Direct line to the COO. The person who takes this seat builds the machine instead of inheriting one.

What you'll own

• The deployment function itself: cadence, playbooks, structure where none exists
• AHJ, permit reviewer, and utility relationships across multiple jurisdictions
• Installer and subcontractor sourcing, onboarding, and management
• SOPs across the full lifecycle: permitting, crew scheduling, commissioning, post-COD O&M, logistics, inventory
• Cost take-out across the install process without giving up safety, quality, or schedule
• Hiring and leading the deployment team as it grows

What we're looking for

• 5+ years in deployment, construction, field operations, or infrastructure project delivery
• Track record scaling a deployment or construction function across distributed sites
• Deep construction PM or field ops experience. Direct energy infra background helps but isn't required
• Comfort with AHJ permitting, inspections, and utility coordination
• Experience running subcontractors and field crews across multiple geographies
• Able to read electrical drawings and single-line diagrams. This is not a design engineering role
• Low ego, high ownership. You'll be on site and in the P&L review

Backgrounds that work

Solar, battery storage, or EV charging deployment. Electrical or MEP construction PM. Telecom, fiber, or small cell rollout. Data centers, substations, or mission-critical infrastructure. Field ops leaders who started as electricians, foremen, or superintendents and grew into deployment leadership.

Location

NYC based or open to relocating. Travel to sites expected, Northeast to start.
