Job description

At Novele, we are on a mission to innovate for a world where energy does more than power our lives—it sustains our planet and enriches our communities. Novele designs and manufactures intelligent energy storage solutions for the built environment, enabling a seamless transition to the efficient and practical use of traditional and renewable energy.

We are a team of experts who approach complex energy challenges with rigor and deep technical understanding. We are passionate about accelerating the energy transition, respectful in how we collaborate with teammates, customers, and partners, and honest in our communication and decision-making. We remain optimistic about what thoughtful engineering can achieve and visionary in how we design systems that scale and endure.

Novele’s first product, EnergyBoard, is the thinnest and most scalable commercial battery system in the world. Designed for dense, urban infrastructure, its modular and lightweight architecture enables installation in space-constrained environments where performance, safety, and reliability are critical.

Your Role

We are hiring a Project Engineer, Field Deployment to lead the execution of EnergyBoard deployments across commercial sites. This is a foundational, hands-on role with end-to-end ownership of project delivery.

You will work closely with internal teams, customers, and contractors throughout the full deployment lifecycle—including Feasibility & Concept Development, Design & Engineering, Permitting & Approvals, Procurement & Construction, Commissioning & Testing, and Operation & Maintenance. Success in this role requires technical expertise, clear and respectful communication, and a proactive, ownership-driven mindset.

As part of a fast-moving organization, you will be trusted to make sound engineering judgments, solve problems honestly and efficiently, and help shape how Novele scales field deployment. This is a rare opportunity to deploy intelligent energy systems that directly support the energy transition and reflect Novele’s commitment to excellence, integrity, and long-term impact.

Responsibilities
  • Lead site implementation from concept through operation, including civil and utility design coordination, permitting, contractor management, and construction oversight
  • Own the full deployment lifecycle (“cradle to grave”) across multiple customer sites, ensuring projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to quality standards
  • Produce and maintain technical documentation and installation support materials for product implementation
  • Optimize and standardize site installation concepts and designs to enable scalable, reliable, and cost-effective deployments
  • Interface with customer site managers, MEP engineers, and professional engineers to ensure drawings and designs meet building codes and regulatory requirements
  • Coordinate with customers, contractors, and Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs) to complete feasibility studies, permitting, and approvals
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams during physical installation, software configuration, commissioning, testing, and final system sign-off
  • Support continuous improvement of deployment processes, tools, and best practices
  • Perform other duties as required to support successful project execution
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (or closely related field)
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in infrastructure, building engineering, construction engineering, or related fields
  • Ability to interpret, create, and review system wiring diagrams, single-line diagrams, and installation schematics
  • Strong project management skills with attention to detail, scheduling, and risk management
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, time management, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently, exercise sound engineering judgment, and manage multiple field deployments concurrently
  • Familiarity with NEC, NFPA, and similar codes
Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD or similar CAD/layout tools for site and installation drawings
  • Experience deploying energy storage systems, industrial switchgear, or similar equipment
  • Familiarity with commissioning, system debugging, and diagnostics tools
  • Experience with Python or similar scripting languages for testing, automation, or troubleshooting
  • PMP certification or equivalent construction/project management experience
Additional Requirements
  • This role is based in Irvine, CA or New York, NY and requires being onsite.
  • Travel is expected to support deployment.
  • Competitive total compensation package with meaningful upside.
  • Premium medical, dental, and vision plans.
  • Generous PTO and company holiday calendar.
  • Team-building activities and company-sponsored events.
