Job summary

CarGurus is seeking a Manager of Data Platform & Operations Engineering to lead the reliability, scalability, and day-to-day operations of our data platform across the company. You will own the platform roadmap, set SLAs, costs, security, and quality controls, and partner with stakeholders to prioritize capabilities.

You’ll guide a team of data engineers, build cloud-native architectures for batch and real-time data, and drive continuous improvement while contributing to governance and data

Qualifications

• BA/BS in CS or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years in data analytics, data engineering, analytics engineering, or related field.
• 2+ years of hands-on people management experience.
• Strong Python/Java/Go and SQL skills; write code with best practices.
• Experience with Snowflake/Redshift/BigQuery and BI tools like Tableau/Looker/Domo.
• Experience distilling requirements for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• You’ve experimented with AI in work or personal projects and are eager to learn fast.

Responsibilities

• Grow and lead a team of data engineers supporting diverse stakeholders.
• Provide technical leadership to build maintainable data architectures.
• Design scalable, cloud-native data architectures for batch and real-time pipelines.
• Develop a vision for CarGurus’ data platform and set standards for data quality.
• Ensure platform scalability, performance, security and cost optimization.
• Collaborate with Product Management to prioritize initiatives and apply agile practices.
• Foster ownership, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
