Job summary

Salesforce in Seattle is seeking a Senior Director of Data Engineering to lead a ~40-person team and own the full data stack, from ingestion to AI-facing services. You’ll partner with Data Science & Analytics to drive a bold vision for agentic analytics and data-enabled AI tooling.

We’re looking for a leader who can transform Slack’s data platform for both humans and autonomous agents, with a focus on real-time data products and AI-native observability.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in data engineering or infrastructure roles.
• 5+ years in engineering leadership at the Director level or above.
• Experience building scalable data platforms (ingestion, warehousing, semantic/metrics) at SaaS scale.
• Ability to lead through organizational change and cross-team alignment.
• Proven collaboration with Data Science / Analytics leadership.

Responsibilities

• Architect data layers for AI agents to query and act on Slack data.
• Evolve semantic layer and metrics definitions with governance.
• Build real-time data products for sub-second agent decisions.
• Ship agentic analytics tooling with self-serve capabilities.
• Establish AI-native observability and cost attribution.
• Drive MCP strategy for data warehouse exposure to AI agents.
