Job summary

Salesforce is seeking a Senior Director of Data Engineering to lead a ~40-person organization and own the full data stack—from ingestion to data products and AI-facing data services. You will partner with Data Science & Analytics to drive a bold vision: the agentic future of data platforms, enabling both human analysts and AI agents.

This role emphasizes real-time data products, AI-native observability, and MCP strategy, while hiring, mentoring, and scaling top engineers to deliver enterprise

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in data engineering, data platform, or infrastructure engineering roles.
• 5+ years in engineering leadership at the Director level or above.
• Proven track record building and scaling data platforms at SaaS scale.
• Experience leading through organizational change and multi-team integrations.
• Strong track record hiring, developing, and retaining managers and senior ICs.
• Excellent cross-functional communication with executive stakeholders.
• A related technical degree required.

Responsibilities

• Architect data layers and APIs for AI agents to query, reason over, and act on Slack's data.
• Transform the semantic layer with governance and machine-readable metrics definitions.
• Build real-time data products supporting sub-second agent decision-making.
• Ship agentic analytics tooling enabling self-serve AI-driven queries and insights.
• Establish AI-native observability, including tracing and cost attribution.
• Drive the Data MCP strategy to expose data assets to AI agents.
