Job summary

The Houston-Galveston Area Council seeks a strategic leader to head its Data Analytics & Research Department. The Director will guide modeling, forecasting, geospatial analytics, and research initiatives to inform regional planning and transportation investment.

Reporting to the CTO/MPO Director, you will oversee budgets, staff development, and cross‑functional teams, driving innovation in AI, data governance, and digital solutions while partnering with IT and external stakeholders to deliver

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Data Science, GIS, Regional Planning, CS, Engineering, Public Administration, Statistics, or related field.
Ten years of progressively responsible experience in data analytics, research, geospatial technologies, regional planning, technology, or related fields, including at least five years in senior management.
Experience leading multidisciplinary teams, managing budgets, projects, and strategic initiatives.

Responsibilities

Direct strategic leadership and management of DAR's activities, including forecasting, modeling, geospatial analytics, and research.
Oversee budgets, contracts, staffing, and performance, ensuring high-quality analytical products.
Lead AI, GIS, data governance, and digital solution initiatives in coordination with IT and leadership.
Foster collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement across departments and stakeholders.
