Job summary

Alta Planning + Design seeks a Civic Analytics Task Manager in Minneapolis to lead data-driven planning work. The role reports to the Civic Analytics Leader and oversees analytics scopes, schedules, and budgets, guiding junior analysts and developing new GIS and data methods.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in geospatial transportation analysis, strong Python/R and ArcGIS Pro skills, and the ability to mentor staff while advancing inclusive, sustainable planning. Hybrid work options are available.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or bachelor’s in statistics, engineering, math, or social sciences.
• 5+ years of geospatial analysis for transportation/planning.
• Experience leading tasks or projects (2+ years).
• Advanced proficiency with Python/R, ArcGIS Pro, and Excel.
• Strong communication and independent work ability.

Responsibilities

• Manage tasks from scope to delivery, with budgets and timelines.
• Lead technical work across data science methods and GIS analyses.
• Communicate with clients, officials and partners; present findings.
• Develop analytical scope language and contribute to proposals.
• Build new tools and methods; integrate into scoping and training.
• Mentor junior staff and lead trainings; share knowledge companywide.
• Own one or two data science specialization areas.
