Job summary

Mercury is seeking a Data & AI Governance leader to build and spearhead an enterprise-wide governance program for data and artificial intelligence. Reporting to the Chief Risk Officer, this leader will establish practical standards for how data and AI are owned, developed, used, protected, and monitored across the organization.

The ideal candidate combines strong governance and risk-management experience with sufficient technical fluency to work effectively with Data, Engineering, Product,

Qualifications

• 10+ years of governance, risk, or privacy experience in data/AI domains.
• Experience building or enhancing enterprise data/AI governance programs.
• Strong understanding of data ownership, quality, lineage, and lifecycle management.
• Knowledge of AI/ML concepts including explainability, bias, and governance for models.
• Ability to develop practical, risk-based policies for fast-moving tech environments.

Responsibilities

• Develop Mercury’s data and AI governance frameworks, policies, and operating model.
• Establish accountability for data ownership, quality, and access.
• Create risk-based governance for AI use cases across lifecycle stages.
• Develop responsible-AI principles covering transparency, privacy, security, and oversight.
• Maintain inventory of data assets and AI use cases with governance decisions.
• Coordinate governance across Product, Engineering, Data, Security, Legal, and Compliance.
• Partner with risk and security teams on data protection and regulatory alignment.
• Lead governance forums and drive timely, well-documented decisions.
