Job summary

State Employees' Credit Union in North Carolina seeks an Associate Executive Vice President, Head of Cyber Defense to lead enterprise cyber defense strategy and investments, align with business objectives, and partner with the CSO to set priorities.

This role demands senior leadership, risk management, governance, and the development of cyber leaders; oversee budgets, metrics, and strategic programs, ensuring resilience and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in cybersecurity, information technology, computer science, business, or related field.
• At least 12 years in cybersecurity, including 7+ years in leadership with teams or enterprise programs.
• Proven ability to develop and execute enterprise cybersecurity strategies and roadmaps.
• Experience guiding security governance, risk management, regulatory and audit matters.
• Ability to advise executives, communicate risks, and influence decisions across functions.
• Preferred certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CCSP or GIAC.

Responsibilities

• Lead enterprise cybersecurity strategy and multi-year roadmaps aligned with objectives and risk appetite.
• Oversee cyber defense architecture, threat intel, monitoring, incident response, and resilience.
• Advise CSO and stakeholders on material risks, regulatory matters, and investment priorities.
• Build and develop a high-performing cybersecurity organization with senior leaders.
• Establish KPIs and KRIs; report progress to executive leadership and ensure continuity.
• Manage financial strategy, budget, and portfolio for cyber defense initiatives.
