Alta Resource Technologies in Boulder, CO seeks a Head of Computational Biology to lead a small team and drive hands-on computational work that connects design, experiments, and predictive modeling. You will translate models into experimentally validated candidates with manufacturability in mind.

The role combines leadership with deep computational biology, ML, and data pipeline development across Applied Biology, data science, and build/test teams to accelerate learning and scale-up toward

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in computational biology, bioinformatics, or related field with 5–10 years of cross-functional leadership.
• Experience leading scientists while remaining hands-on contributor (player/coach).
• Track record delivering outcomes: design/test systems and commercially relevant candidates.
• Expertise in machine learning and predictive models for protein engineering.
• Experience with bioinformatics pipelines and databases.
• Experience with LIMS, data provenance, and scalable workflows.

Responsabilités

• Lead a small computational biology team and set clear goals for delivery.
• Develop model classifications and scoring using in silico and real-world data.
• Establish workflows for protein dynamics, quantum mechanics, and in silico scoring.
• Execute hands-on contributions to model development and analysis.
• Define success metrics aligned to hits, manufacturability, and commercialization.
• Build and maintain end-to-end pipelines from sequence data to experimental results.
• Collaborate with data science to track genotype-phenotype relationships and feedback loops.
• Partner with build/test teams to ensure designs meet throughput and cost constraints.
