Job Summary

The overall role purpose is to set the strategy and lead the execution of activities to become the top Commercial business in Tanzania. The role holder will oversee the Commercial side of the Business Banking function and other products such as Business Islamic Finance, Merchant acquiring, and Insurance. The primary objective is to maximize sustainable risk-adjusted portfolio contribution on an aggregate team basis.

Job Purpose

Same as above, emphasizing strategic leadership and oversight of various banking products to achieve market leadership in Tanzania.

Accountabilities
  • Driving Business Development and Growth - 40%
  • Deliver growth in the Commercial segment through acquisition, retention, and expansion strategies.
  • Make major operational and investment decisions, including planning, budgeting, prioritization, and resource allocation.
  • Generate and evaluate proposals for the Commercial Business, advising the Director of Business Banking.
  • Monitor KPIs and develop strategies to meet performance and growth targets.
  • Cascade strategies to the team, lead complex transactions, and monitor market performance.
  • Identify new customer potential and promote new products and initiatives.
  • Customer Service Management - 25%
  • Act as the face of Business Bank to the Commercial Market, developing networks and understanding market trends.
  • Formulate business development strategies, increase portfolio value, and ensure high service standards.
  • Engage in client meetings, monitor customer feedback, and collaborate cross-functionally for service excellence.
  • People Management and Development - 25%
  • Lead, develop, and motivate the Commercial team, manage resources effectively, and foster a high-performance culture.
  • Manage HR processes, conduct performance reviews, and support staff development.
  • Risk, Control, and Compliance Management – 10%
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and internal policies, manage risks, and address financial crime issues.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in emerging markets, with proven credit risk analysis and relationship management skills.
Knowledge & Skills
  • Strong organizational, marketing, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and leadership abilities.
