Job summary

Audible is seeking a Director, Content Acquisition & Development (North America) to lead end-to-end deal generation for audio rights with authors, agents, publishers, and recognized IP brands. You’ll negotiate high-volume deals, manage strategic relationships, and collaborate with internal teams and external partners.

You will prepare projects with budgets, P&Ls, and deal terms, structuring agreements, and driving the evolution of Audible’s audio content strategy.

Qualifications

• Experience negotiating complex agreements with strong legal terminology understanding.
• Experience in traditional book space with content acquisition and/or rights licensing.
• 5+ years of publishing, audio, or entertainment industry deal negotiation experience.
• Verbal and written communication skills with ability to translate complex concepts across the organization.
• Experience working across cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Structure and negotiate deals with authors, agents, publishers and other content creator partners.
• Grow and maintain relationships with current and potential partners like authors, agents, managers, and publishers.
• Manage and execute high-volume deal flow against specific metrics.
• Track and communicate deal terms within the organization and enforce terms when needed.
• Collaborate with Editorial/Creative, Marketing, PR, Content Services, and Content Creation teams.
• Coordinate with content teams to maintain messaging and policy consistency.
• Contribute to data collection, budgets, P&Ls, and proposed deal terms for project prep.
• Passionately advance the evolution and consumption of audio content and storytelling.
