Job summary

Daikin Applied seeks an Applied Mechanics Leader to own mechanical analysis, simulation, and testing across programs. You will lead a team applying structural, thermal, dynamic, and multiphysics methods to reduce risk and accelerate development.

Hybrid role in Plymouth, MN, partnering with design, materials, manufacturing, and test teams. You will translate complex results into clear recommendations for leadership and customers, driving robust, manufacturable solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years in mechanical analysis or applied mechanics with 3+ years leading teams.
• Deep expertise in FEA and solid mechanics; fatigue/fracture experience helpful.
• Experience with CFD, thermal, and multi-physics analyses and correlation to tests.
• Acoustic theory and simulation experience; familiarity with test methods.
• Ability to translate complex results into clear recommendations.

Responsibilities

• Set technical direction for applied mechanics across programs.
• Lead a team of model-based engineers; manage goals and budgets.
• Embed analysis early in design and partner with cross-functional teams.
• Review plans, models, and results; drive validation with tests.
• Introduce new tools, workflows, and governance; support design reviews.
