Daikin Applied, the world's largest HVAC company, is seeking a Principal Engineer for Applied Terminal Systems. You will serve as the technical leader for the Business Unit and drive innovation across the product portfolio in Plymouth, MN, with a hybrid work model.

You will lead technology development, champion IP, mentor teams, and collaborate with marketing, operations, and product management to align capabilities with market needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
• 15+ years of progressive engineering experience, including leadership roles in product development and technology strategy.
• Proven track record of driving innovation and securing IP in a relevant industry.
• Strong technical acumen with ability to translate emerging technologies into business opportunities.
• Entrepreneurial mindset with strategic thinking and decision-making capabilities.
• Exceptional leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Master's or Ph.D. in Engineering preferred.

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary technical authority for the Business Unit, setting strategic direction for technology development.
• Lead research initiatives to identify and integrate new technologies into future products.
• Champion intellectual property development, ensuring proprietary designs and competitive differentiation.
• Collaborate with legal and R&D teams to secure patents and protect innovations.
• Partner with senior leadership to evaluate and pursue new business opportunities driven by technology advancements.
• Contribute to Business Unit-level decisions impacting product and technology roadmaps.
• Coach and mentor engineering teams, fostering technical growth and leadership skills.
• Promote a collaborative and innovative work environment across functions.
• Participate in enterprise-level product and technology discussions, influencing strategic initiatives.
• Work closely with marketing, operations, and product management to align technical capabilities with market needs.
