Job summary

Bausch + Lomb seeks a Head of Forward Deployed Engineer to scale AI from pilots to production across manufacturing, supply chain, quality, procurement, and engineering. You will ship production‑ready AI inside live environments and coach a small FDE team to set standards.

You will work with AI Delivery, Data, and IT to deliver as one team, balancing hands‑on work (60–70%) with process discovery, adoption, and coaching. Success is adoption-driven and tied to business outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in CS/Engineering/IS or related field.
• 10+ years in software engineering, solution implementation, or digital transformation with a track record of shipping production code.
• Proficiency in Python and API/integration development; experience on cloud platforms like Azure or Google Cloud.
• Hands-on experience with generative AI, agents, ML, and workflow automation in production.
• Experience deploying enterprise technology with business users and driving adoption.
• Experience leading or mentoring engineers while remaining an active contributor.

Responsibilities

• Build and deploy AI-enabled solutions (generative AI, agents, ML, workflow automation) that run reliably in production.
• Integrate with enterprise systems (e.g., SAP and plant/quality/supply chain platforms) via APIs and data pipelines.
• Own path from prototype to production: testing, user acceptance, security/compliance review, release, monitoring, and post-deployment support.
• Apply validation and documentation practices for regulated environments.
• Collaborate with plant leaders, planners, buyers, and quality teams to understand work processes and identify high-value use cases.
