Job summary

Linktree seeks a Head of Operations Engineering to own the platform and enablement for AI initiatives, from versioning models to controlling costs and latency. You will mentor teams and balance build versus buy while governing data and vendor risk.

You’ll lead cross‑functional efforts with Product, Data, Engineering, Marketing, and Support, aligning investments with the roadmap and financial model. Hybrid/AU remote options available.

Qualifications

• 5–7 years in ML/AI engineering or AI operations with production ownership.
• Experience running AI/ML systems in production — pipelines, versioning, evaluation, monitoring, incident response.
• Fluency with modern LLM tooling and cost, latency, context limits realities.
• Track record of driving internal AI adoption: enablement and tooling.
• Strong build‑vs‑buy judgment and prudent decision making with incomplete information.
• Ability to set guardrails around data handling and vendor risk.
• Excellent communication to explain AI trade‑offs to engineers and executives.
• Ability to work from Melbourne or Sydney offices on a hybrid basis, or remotely within AU.

Responsibilities

• Drive internal AI adoption — tooling, agent workflows, and enablement across Product, Engineering, Marketing, and Support.
• Establish proportionate governance around data handling, vendor risk, and pre‑launch evaluation.
• Partner with leadership to sequence AI investments against the roadmap and financial model.
• Make build‑vs‑buy calls and determine what should not be built.
• Mentor engineers and analysts working on AI surfaces and raise the operational bar.
