Zusammenfassung

Gusto seeks an Engineering Manager for AI Dev Tools to own the agentic coding platform end-to-end — from product bets to the underlying CI/security infrastructure. You’ll influence how agents work autonomously, set guardrails, and drive vendor contracts.

You will recruit and mentor senior engineers, align with CTO on AI-native directions, and shape the team’s roadmap across multiple domains. This role requires strategic thinking and hands-on leadership.

Qualifikationen

• 8+ years of engineering people leadership experience with senior engineers.
• Hands-on experience with agentic coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, or equivalent).
• Experience owning vendor or infrastructure contracts from requirements to procurement.
• Ability to make autonomy/risk tradeoff calls on AI systems without a dedicated security team.
• Proven track record leading across multiple domains while managing ambiguity.
• Strong communication with senior/executive stakeholders and decision-making impact.

Aufgaben

• Own the agentic coding roadmap and orchestration model across platforms.
• Oversee agentic code review, balancing quality, speed, and cost with data-driven tradeoffs.
• Define security posture, sandboxing, and risk controls for autonomous coding agents.
• Set AI infra spend guardrails and translate usage data into governance decisions.
• Lead and grow a team of senior engineers, including hiring and leveling decisions.
• Partner with engineering leadership and the CTO on AI-native software direction.
