Job summary

Tooele City Corporation is seeking a Lead Aquatics Operator / Head Lifeguard III for the Pratt Aquatic Center in Tooele, Utah. This full-time role leads on-deck and in-water operations, mentoring staff and delivering safe, welcoming experiences.

You will train lifeguards, coordinate programs, and ensure top customer service while maintaining a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• Must have a high school diploma or GED (adv education in exercise science, parks and recreation or similar field work is a plus).
• Current Lifeguard, WSI Water Safety Instructor, CPR for the professional rescuer, and First Aid certifications (or ability to obtain).
• Prior aquatics experience with increasing responsibility preferred.
• Valid driver's license, 12 months driver experience, and acceptable driving record.
• Ability to obtain Lifeguard Instructor Certification within 12 months and Water Safety Instructor Trainer (WSIT) within 12–18 months.
• Ability to pass a background check and work in a position of trust around youth and vulnerable adults.
• Must have flexibility in scheduling including working evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Aquatics Superintendent providing leadership to on-duty staff, ensuring patron safety, enforcing facility rules, and responding to emergencies or unusual situations.
• Train, mentor, and develop a strong lifeguard and swim instructor team.
• Deliver exceptional customer service to patrons of all ages.
• Coordinate staff schedules.
• Develop, coordinate, and oversee aquatics programs such as swim lessons, lifeguard training, swim team, and other events.
