Job summary

Tooele City seeks a proactive Lead Aquatics Operator / Head Lifeguard III at the Pratt Aquatic Center in Tooele, Utah. This full-time role combines leadership with direct aquatic operations to create a safe, welcoming environment.

You will mentor lifeguards and swim instructors, manage schedules, and oversee programs like lessons and trainings, while uphold High safety and service standards year-round.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or GED required; advanced education in exercise science, parks and recreation or similar field is a plus.
• Current lifeguard, CPR for the professional rescuer, First Aid certifications (or ability to obtain).
• Prior aquatics experience with increasing responsibility preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and 12 months driving experience with acceptable record.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership to on-duty staff, ensure patron safety, enforce rules, and respond to emergencies.
• Train, mentor, and develop lifeguards and swim instructors.
• Deliver exceptional customer service to patrons of all ages.

Ready to take the lead-on deck and in the water? Tooele City is looking for a motivated, service-driven individual to join our leadership team as a full-time regularLead Aquatics Operator / Head Lifeguard III.

The Pratt Aquatic Center is an indoor facility open year round and we are closed on Sundays. This full-time regular opportunity includes a full benefit package and provides you with the opportunity to turn your passion into a career.

Examples of Duties:

• Assists the Aquatics Superintendent providing leadership to on-duty staff, ensuring patron safety, enforcing facility rules, and responding to emergencies or unusual situations.
• Trains, mentors, and develop a strong, confident lifeguard and swim instructor team.
• Delivers exceptional customer service to patrons of all ages.
• Coordinate staff schedules.
• Develops, coordinates, and oversees a variety of aquatics programs such as swim lessons, lifeguard training, swim team, and other special events, as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Must be 18 years or older.

• Current Lifeguard, WSI Water Safety Instructor, CPR for the professional rescuer, and First Aid certifications (or ability to obtain).
• Prior aquatics experience with increasing responsibility preferred.
• Valid driver's license, 12 months driver experience, and acceptable driving record.
• Ability to obtain Lifeguard Instructor Certification within 12 months and Water Safety Instructor Trainer (WSIT) within 12–18 months.
• Ability to pass a background check and work in a position of trust around youth and vulnerable adults.
• Must have flexibility in scheduling including working evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
