Job summary

City of Oregon City is seeking a Head Guard to supervise aquatic guarding and instruction, support lifeguarding and swim lesson services, and assist with program development. The role includes emergency response, front desk support, and coordination of aquatic activities.

The Head Guard will mentor staff, ensure safety during operations, manage basic facility upkeep, and help with scheduling, registrations, and customer information for the Parks and Recreation Department.

Qualifications

• 1 year of lifeguarding experience is required.
• Experience providing swim lessons or instruction is preferred.
• Ability to respond to emergencies and complete incident reports.
• Knowledge of aquatic safety practices and program planning.

Responsibilities

• Provide Lifeguarding services and respond to emergencies.
• Coordinate and direct aquatic facility operations, classes, and swim lessons.
• Manage registration information and customer service at the front desk.
• Maintain water safety, cleanliness, and housekeeping duties around the pool area.
• Prepare reports and assist with maintenance orders as needed.
