Qualifications

Job description

Responsible for on-site supervision of the Veteran’s Memorial Aquatics Center (VMAC) program setup and daily operations. This non-benefited position is scheduled as needed based on facility programming for less than 20 hours a week.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Job Tasks Descriptions:

  1. Maintain proper deck supervision for aquatics staff, set rotations, ensure participant safety, answer inquiries regarding activities, and join guard rotation. Enforce VMAC rules and regulations through lifeguards.
  2. Ensure the pool complies with State Health code regulations by regularly checking and adjusting chemicals. Perform daily facility checks, complete reports, and support cleaning of the pool, pump room, storage areas, locker rooms, bathrooms, concessions, hallways, rooms, lifeguard office, and snow clearance as needed.
  3. Set up and take down events and practices, including moving bulkheads, lane lines, timing systems, computers, tables, chairs, and platforms.
  4. Attend staff trainings and meetings; may conduct staff training audits and drills.
  5. Coordinate with outside organizations, concessions workers, and coaches to set up events. Assist with opening and closing the facility and handling start-up cash and close-outs for events and concessions.
  6. Perform other related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • Currently enrolled in high school; high school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Minimum 6 months of experience in an aquatics program, including Lifeguarding and/or Assistant Pool Manager preferred.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS, OR CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Criminal background check required for hire.
  • American Red Cross Lifeguard Training and First Aid Certification required.
  • American Red Cross CPR-PR / AED required.

SALARY INFORMATION:

All classified positions are paid hourly. Newly hired employees are initially placed at Step 1 of the pay grade. Advancement of up to 7 steps (maximum Step 8) is based on experience. Final placement depends on position grade level and previous experience. Refer to the hourly rates and additional compensation details on our website.
